Notice of Public Hearing - Clean Water Facilities Plan

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Arcadia, Florida will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 6:00 pm or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in Council Chambers at the Margaret Way Building, 23 N. Polk Avenue, Arcadia, Florida.

This hearing will include a discussion of the Clean Water Facilities Plan and associated recommendations for the wastewater collection system, wastewater treatment plant and reclaimed water facilities and associated financial impact on system users.  The hearing is intended to afford the opportunity of individuals to be heard on the economic and social impacts of the location, design, and environmental impacts associated with the proposed improvements. 

Funding for these improvements is anticipated to come from the State Revolving Fund Program administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.  Financial impacts on utility users will be presented at the hearing.

All interested persons are invited to attend and be heard.

If any person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Council with respect to any matter considered at the meeting or public hearing, they will need a record of the proceedings and for such purpose, they will need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which their appeal is to be based.

PUBLIC WORKS LABORER - FULL TIME & PART TIME POSITIONS

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.  Applicants must have the skills to operate a variety of power and manual tools and equipment.  This is routine manual labor requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform manual tasks.  Works involves frequent walking/standing and moderately heavy lifting.  Tasks may involve, but not be limited to, mowing, weed eating, raking, patching of streets, tree trimming, sanitation details, and various other manual tasks.  Applicants must have the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.  Applicants must have the ability to understand specific oral and written instructions.  Work will be performed in varying environmental conditions withg frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions.  Majority of work will be performed outdoors.  Starting salary:  $10.55/hour.  Applications accepted until position is filled.

WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT SUPERVISOR - FULL TIME

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must have a current, valid Florida Class "B" Wastewater Operator's License. The license must be supplemented by three (3) to five (5) years responsible experience in utilities operations; including three (3) years of supervisory responsibility; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License.  Work will be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.  Persons in this position may be exposed to inclement weather, moderate noise levels, dust, and unpleasant odors.  Applications will be accepted until position is filled.

 Salary: $43,412.30/yearly  

WASTE WATER/WATER TREATMENT OPERATOR - FULL TIME (2 POSITIONS)

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must possess a Florida Water Operator's Certification, class "C" and a valid Florida driver's License.  Position is responsible for highly skilled and advanced knowledge of ion exchange water treatment methods.  Applicants must have skills in MS Word and Excel.  Work is performed both in indoor and outdoor environments.  Persons(s) in this position will work varying shifts.  Person(s) in the position may be exposed to inclement weather, moderate noise levels, dust and unpleasant odors.  Applications will be accepted until position is filled.

Salary:  $17.25/hour

PUBLIC WORKS CDL LABORER - FULL TIME POSITION

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class B or greater.  Applicants must have the skill and ability to operate a variety of large vehicles.  This is routine manual labor requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform manual tasks.  Applicants must have skill and ability to operate a variety of power and manual tools and equipment.  Work involves frequent walking/standing and moderately heavy lifting.  Work will be performed in varying environmental conditions with the majority of the work performed outdoors,  Salary:  $12.31 per hour

WASTE WATER TREATMENT OPERATOR TRAINEE - FULL TIME

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.  Must have strong computer skills and must be proficient in Microsoft and Excel with the ability to produce reports in both systems. Experience in general maintenance of small engines is preferred.  Persons(s) in this position may be exposed to inclement weather, moderate noise levels, dust, and unpleasant odors.  Salary:  $12.39 per hour

AIRPORT LABORER - PART TIME

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.  This is routine manual labor requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform manual tasks.  Applicants must have the skills and ability to operate a tractor and pull a bat wing mower.  Work will involve frequent walking/standing and moderately heavy lifting.  Work will be performed in varying environmental conditions with the majority of the work performed outdoors.  Salary:  $10.55 per hour
