CITY COUNCIL

Keith Keene

Keith Keene was sworn in to his inaugural council term in October 2009. A life long resident of Arcadia, he obtained his BA in Chemistry from the University of South Florida after graduating from DeSoto County High School in 1971. Keith married the former Cindy Dow in 1977. They have two sons and two grand daughters.

Keith has worked for the Florida Department of Health for 21 years, serving as the Environmental Health Administrator for the DeSoto County Health Department since 2000. Keith is a graduate of the Center for Disease Control Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute where he continues to mentor current fellows.

He serves on the Florida Public Health Association board of directors and represents the Florida Department of Health on the Peace River Basin Management Advisory Committee. Locally, he leads the Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) committee. MAPP is a community driven, strategic planning tool for improving community health. Keith completed the Florida Institute of Government training program for Elected Municipal Officials and additional training on Florida's Code of Ethics, the Sunshine Law and Public Records Act.

Keith is passionate about Arcadia. He brings his visionary leadership to work with the council to find ways to stimulate economic growth, preserve our historic character, revitalize our neighborhoods and create partnerships to insure Arcadia is appealing, prosperous and livable.
